For most of us, the idea of a holiday party has changed. Remember when it was at a hotel downtown? You got all dressed up with your spouse and danced the night away, celebrating your big bonus, as the CEO toasted another year of double-digit growth. Now some of us are glad to get a pat on the back and a pizza party in the conference room.
But according to the Society for Human Resource Management, 68 percent of organizations will hold a year-end/holiday party in 2011. Today companies just seem to be doing much more low-key, do-it-yourself parties and others are striking a balance between the pre-recession days and still having fun.
You’ll be hearing lots of tips about how to avoid getting into trouble at the office holiday party, but like most things, there’s an app for that.
SurePayroll would like to hear your stories about this year’s holiday party. Did you do something different than in years past? Did employees receive a unique award for their hard work? What value did the party bring to your small business (camaraderie, stress relief, morale boost, etc.)?
